23^rd March 2008 @ Shobdon

Most of the Wrekin club riders were booked in to race the first group meeting of the year at Shobdon. Unfortunately on the Thursday before the meeting we had some very upsetting news that Keith Smout had passed away. This was very sudden & saddening news & he will be greatly missed by all Wrekin members! In fact, anyone who regularly attends group motocross meetings will remember Keith & Fran, as they are famous for making it to the majority of race meetings in the “Big Rig” to support our riders. Our thoughts are with Fran & family at this sad time.

A few of the Wrekin riders braved the snow & wind at Shobdon & it was the up & coming Inters that managed to bring home the trophys. Nathan Parsons took 1^st overall with 2 clean wins & Liam Jones took 3^rd overall with a 4^th & a 2^nd. Jordan Payne got 3^rd overall in the MX2 Seniors with a win in the first & DNF in the second after he had a tangle with the ropes! Dale Childs, Shaun Raybould & Richie Brown both raced too but failed to make the podium. Better luck next time lads!!
